Last week Las Iguanas invited us down to try out their menu and have a family date night, South American food is definitely one of my favourites – did someone say Fajitas!? I was there like a shot. Family date night are so precious to me. My three are all now at school and I am busy juggling the working mum lifestyle so I was so excited for some time with them.
Las Iguanas menu did not disappoint, I love how its laid out by country so you know if the dish has come from Mexico, Argentina or even Peru. It’s great for trying new foods and flavours.
So first up the children’s menu; now when I think South American food I think full rich flavours, I think spice. While I could eat that kind of food daily I wasn’t sure how the menu would go down with the girls. I couldn’t of been more wrong Las Iguanas have a fantastic children’s menu with dishes like Chorizo hot dogs, tacos, quesadilla’s and then burgers and chicken crunchy’s. They had no problems choosing and no problem finishing their plates either, it’s so satisfying to see children clear a plate of food. The children’s meal deal allows them to pick 1 main, 2 sides and a dessert for £5.90. Fantastic value and it really allows kids to build their meal up to be perfect for them.
Keeping the girls entertained between courses has never been easier either, not only did they each receive a big activity sheet and crayons to work through they also received special books sharing Iggy the Iguana’s adventure these stories have been created exclusively for Las Iguana’s and they’re really cute. They teach the little ones about the countries in South America and keep them happy as they wait for dinner to arrive.
On to the main menu, with the kids happy James and I got stuck into a huge plate of nachos to start – yum. Nachos are my favourite starter I always seem to end up with them.
For mains I opted for a Chicken Enchilada – no regrets. It was delicious but absolutely massive, thankfully as James was their nothing went to waste – the boy can EAT. Next visit I will be trying something a little different, I saw dish after dish coming out looking fantastic.
Along with my left overs James had the Havana Club & Jerk BBQ Pork Ribs, I didn’t get a look in but according to him they were incredible, super tender and bursting with spice!
Even writing this post is making me hungry, Las Iguanas is one of my favourite restaurants right now. I can’t wait to go back. Discovering how great they are for children as well has made it even better, they loved it just as much as I did and have already asked to go again – YAY!
Huge thank you to Las Iguanas for inviting us down.
