One of my absolute favourite Christmas traditions is grabbing the family and heading to the pantomime, and this year’s Cinderella at the Bournemouth Pavilion did not disappoint! Super fun, full of sparkle, and packed with those laugh-out-loud moments that get both the kids and us grown-ups giggling in equal measure.
If you’re looking for something festive to do as a family, this is definitely one to put on your list. The show runs until Sunday 4th January 2026, so there’s still plenty of time to grab tickets and enjoy the performance.
Cinderella is one of those classic panto stories we all know, and this version keeps things fun and easy to follow for children of all ages. There were lots of silly moments, plenty of audience participation (always a winner with little ones!), and a good mix of jokes – some aimed at the kids and a few cheeky ones slipped in for the grown-ups too.
The whole atmosphere was lovely and very family-friendly and that is what panto is about, having a laugh together, joining in, shouting “he’s behind you!” or in this case (6 – 7) and enjoying the festive mood. This show definitely delivers on that.
The cast this year brings plenty of charm and energy; including the fantastic Melanie Walters (Gwen from Gavin & Stacey) she played the Fairy Godmother fantastically – warm, friendly, full of sparkle and a few Gavin and Stacey nods added in which as a big G&S fan I loved! Noel Brodie was also back for his eleventh year in Bournemouth, had the audience laughing throughout, he’s always fantastic! And we cannot forget the dames, Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph, they brought an array of outrageous costumes, silliness and all the exaggerated fun you’d expect.
What I love most about pantomime is that it gets us out together doing something that doesn’t involve screens or rushing about. We can just sit, laugh, join in and enjoy some proper family time with an ice cream half way through for good measure! The show moves at a good pace, which is ideal for little ones, and there are enough bright costumes, songs and funny characters to keep them interested throughout.
If you’re after a relaxed, feel-good festive outing that won’t break the bank, Cinderella at the Bournemouth Pavilion is a solid choice. It’s cheery, funny, easy-going and perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit.
The show runs until Sunday 4th January 2026, so there’s still plenty of time to make it part of your family’s festive plans.
