5 Time Saving Tips for Busy Parents

When you have kids, time is of the essence. Between your job, the housework, and being your children’s personal taxi-driver, it can feel like you’re being pulled in every direction.

It’s no wonder you’re stressed! But there are things you can do to lighten the load a little bit. If you’re finding yourself busier than ever, then here are five tips to help you get organised and squeeze the most out of every hour in the day, even when 24 doesn’t feel like enough.

  1. Routine

Having a stable routine is not only good for your little ones, but it’s great for you too. Now of course we aren’t suggesting that you cut out all the spontaneity from your life, but having a regular daily routine will give you something to lean on in your busy everyday schedule.

Stick to a consistent bedtime and set your alarm for the same time every day. And if you’re feeling up to it, waking up even just an hour earlier will squeeze in extra time to get a few more things done.

  1. Time Management

Mastering the art of time management is key!

When you plan your day, set yourself a time limit for how long you’d ideally like to spend on each task.

If you’re not that great at keeping mental track, then use an app such as Remember the Milk to track your tasks! Once you can manage your time, you’ll find that you have more of it to spend on yourself.

  1. Distance Learning

If you’ve dreamed about furthering your education, but simply don’t have the time to return to university, then consider enrolling in a distance learning institution such as Anglia Ruskin University.

With online learning you’ll be able to study a variety of vocational subjects, such as health and social care, on a schedule that offers you the flexibility you need! Distance learning is perfect for parents, and those who are already working in their desired career paths, and want to take the next step in the life plan.

  1. Get Help with Chores

There’s no reason that you should have to take care of all the household chores yourself. Delegate as many as you can to your partner and children.

In fact, chores are a great way to teach your little ones some responsibility, helping them grow into well rounded adults.

As your children get older, they’ll be able to be trusted with bigger tasks, from tidying up, to washing the dishes, and eventually being trusted with trips to the shop – all great time-savers for you!.

  1. Meal Kits

Having to plan your meals each week and then do the shopping can take a lot of time out of your very busy schedule. However, there are now services that do all the hard work for you.

When you use a meal kit subscription service such as Hello Fresh, you’ll always rest easy in the knowledge that dinner is taken care of… you just need to cook it!
