The bedtime routine is one of my favourite times of day. That’s not because the ends in sight and the kids are finally off to the land of nod, meaning I can put my feet up at last with a hot cuppa. No I love it because everything else stops for 30 minutes and it’s just time with my girls.
As a busy mum I’m juggling work, kids and trying to maintaining a certain level of cleanliness in the home. I try and spend as much quality time with my girl as I can but with so much going on I find myself easily distracted.
This week BookTrust are once again running their Bath, Book and Bedtime campaign. They know that lack of sleep is one of the hardest parts of being a parent of young children; getting them to sleep is one of the biggest challenges as we all know.
Their solution is a simple three step routine that includes a little bedtime reading to encourage a good night sleep. Not only is it a lovely time to bond with your children it really calms them down and gets them ready to head off to bed.
I have read to the girls from such a young age it would feel really strange not reading with the daily. Even as my girls begin to read more independently our bedtime routine still remains so important to us all.
We often take our favourite stories one step further; either acting out scenes or even creating fun little puppets we can use with the story.
The girls love crafting so if we have a quiet afternoon it’s always great to think ahead to our bed time story and create some fun props we can use along side the story. I have no complaints when it comes to bed time as the girls can’t wait to use our props.
The Bath, Book and Bedtime campaign is such a lovely way to encourage an smooth bed time. I also have an amazing bundle of goodies for you guys to win to help your own bed time routine!
