This half term the girls an were invited to take part in one of the Mini Ninja’s cooking classes put on by YO! Sushi.
Considering neither I nor the kids had ever tried actually tried Sushi before; I knew it was going to be an interesting experience all round. If I am honest I wasn’t sure if it would be for us but I am always up for trying something new.
We were greeted on arrival by non other than Darth Vader! He would be teaching the girls how to make some of YO! Sushi’s most popular dishes; they couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
The hour long session started off with us practising our chop stick skills; I thought the kids would be useless having never used them before but they were amazing! Maisy was a natural and seriously put me to shame.
The fun little activity was great way to break the ice and get them feeling comfortable. Next we were on to the sushi!
It was a lot easier to make than I had thought; the girls always enjoy getting their hands stuck in when we bake at home so making sushi was perfect for them. They all listen carefully to instructions and needed minimal help to create some new foods.
Dee (who took the class) was brilliant with the kids. He kept them entertained from start to finish showing them what to do, encouraging their own creativity and answering every bizarre question the girls threw at him.
The hour was up before we knew it, we each took away a tray of our hand made Sushi and the girls had a goodie bag complete with a certificate, cooking bag and all the main ingredients they would need to recreate the dishes at home.
They left with huge smiles on their faces feeling chuffed to pieces with their masterpieces. Sharing new experiences and learning new skills is something I love to do with the kids, we all took so much away from this session and they have been talking about it ever since.
Yo! Sushi mini ninja’s Cooking classes are available to book at £15 per person, you will find them at restaurants up and down the country during the holidays. It is perfect if you are looking for a fun new activity to try out as a family. I would highly recommend.

Oh wow! It looks like they had a fantastic time. I find my children are always willing to try new foods when they have got involved with making them. X
