I love my blog – like really love my blog, I see it as an extension of me. A place for all my grumbles and random musings, a place to record our lives and the crazy journey of parenthood we are on. BUT big but after a year of going for it and devoting a hell of a lot of time to it I started to feel myself burn out, something I love so much was feeling a little bit like a chore at times. Which is when I knew I needed to take a little bit of time out each week switch off have some screen free time – yes that includes the TV.
Here are some of the things I like to do:
- Bath – A nice big relaxing bubbly bath, once the kids are all in bed I can just completely relax with some music playing and a nice big cuppa of a glass of wine depending on whether there is any in the fridge that evening, I have started making this a weekly thing and I love it. I never used to be much of a bath person until now.
- Reading – spending an hour or two getting lost in a great book is a great way to unwind, I can get so lost in a story it’ll feel like I’ve been reading for 5 minutes but in reality it’s been 2 hours.
- Cooking/baking – I love to bake and cook with the kids it’s so messy but we have a ton of fun it’s nice to jus put my phone down and get stuck in with them, I am so guilty of checking my emails and social media throughout the day so I have to make the conscious decision to put it out of sight at times.
- Colouring – Colouring with the kids is fine but the little sods always want to join in and do my picture, the control freak in me just cringes on the inside as they scrawl all over my pretty picture. I have been using the adult colouring book calm colour create it is so therapeutic.
These are just some of the way I like to unwise and switch off from the screens what about you?
Would you like to try the Calm Colour Create magazine for your self? I have three to give away to be in with the chance of winning just enter via the rafflecopter widget below.
Closes midnight 23/08/2015. 3 winners will then be selected at random and contacted via email.
I’ve been trying to make sure I take time away from my blog too. It’s easy to lose hours and days sat at my laptop. I’m trying to make an effort to enjoy the other things I like doing too. I find baking relaxing and also long baths.
The colouring book looks fab. xx
