Wedding Planning – where to start?

I haven’t spoken much about our wedding plans on here. For a long time we were undecided whether we were going to have a ‘wedding’ in the traditional sense or just go off quietly, get married with the kids watching on and then jet off somewhere exotic. The only changes being my surname and the wedding bands we’d be wearing. I know what you’re thinking, what a wedding scrooge. But with lockdown’s going on and seeing my friends missing out on their big days and the stress it caused them I just couldn’t face it. With things having eased up so much now, and being able to go to my to best friends weddings in the summer I did a complete 180.
We still want to keep it quite a small intimate occasion with just our best friends and closest family there but wedding plans are officially underway!

Last year we set a date and as we are starting to approach the 1 year count down until the big day I feel as though I really ought to start getting things in order!

So a quick update on where we are. We booked our venue last year and they’re absolutely awesome so are taking care of so much. We’re getting married in a hotel so it’s quite an inclusive package; so we have ticked off venues for both ceremony and reception, canapés, wedding breakfast, evening buffet, drinks and accommodation with them.

I have also booked in the registrar’s an appointed some bridesmaids, as I say were keeping things intimate so half the wedding party is basically a bridesmaid but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So what else is on the list:

Wedding Bands
Dress for me
Hair
Make up
Bridemaid’s Dresses
Shoe’s
Cake
Suits
Flowers
Decor
Invitations
DJ/band
Favours
Photographer
Choose the menu
Honeymoon/family-moon

Ok, so when it’s all written down it’s quite a lot and there’s probably a ton I haven’t been thought about.

One thing I am so excited to do is choose the food; we will go to a tasting evening to sample lots of different dishes before working with the chef to create a really bespoke menu. I am such a foodie so having that flexibility really sold this venue to me.

I am so excited to start getting the plans in place and see my ideas come to life!

MAY 2023 will be here soon and I can’t wait to get married!!!
