Visiting La Croix du Vieux Pont With Eurocamp |AD

Recently the family and I packed up the car and headed to the La Croix du Vieux Pont Eurocamp resort in France.

We were well overdue a little family getaway and as I had a extra little surprise up my sleeve for the girls I had been  counting down the days to get to La Croix du Vieux Pont.

But before we get into the trip itself I wanted to talk about the booking experience with Eurocamp. The website is super simple to navigate and full of inspiration for your next getaway. You can search by destination or holiday type if you know what you’re after but if not you can search the website according to your personality. Whether you’re a paddler, a chiller, a slider, an adventurer or a never sit stiller Eurocamp have put together a collection of holidays to suit you, I can see why they are seen as the European self-catering specialist’s!

There are so many destinations to choose from you are bound to find somewhere perfect for you. When you do Eurocamp offer a ton of flexibility, you can arrive which ever day you like and they also provide a travel planner to help you work out how you are going to get there. Whether it’s by plane, train, boat or car the handy tool helps you find the best option and also details the timings – it’s so helpful!

We opted to go via ferry from Dover to Calais and then drive the 2 hours 30 minutes to our destination – La Croix du Vieux Pont. The ferry crossing was only 90 minutes so for us the longest part was actually getting to Dover. The travel was fine though, having a break on the ferry in-between the driving was brilliant when travelling with children, they really enjoyed it.

We arrived at La Croix du Vieux Pont at around 1pm. Although check in wasn’t until 3pm our accommodation was ready for us, so we headed straight there to drop off all our bits and the kids chose their beds (the most important part).

The accommodation itself was perfect for what we needed. We were staying in a 3 bed 1 bath Avant + Deck which sleeps up to 8 , it was all very clean and well equipped for a family stay. Inside the bedrooms are not the most spacious but to be honest we were hardly ever in them – only to sleep. We spent most evenings hanging out on the decking outside and I loved that the double doors opened up it made it feel like one huge living area. Each holiday home also has a outside bbq – lovely touch.

We also had lining and towels provided in our stay, this is something you would usually either bring yourself or pay an extra fee for. I feel like it is worth the extra money myself, one less thing to pack and depending how you travel you don’t want to be filling your suitcases with bed sheets!

Overall we were really happy with our holiday home; the beds were comfortable, the kitchen had all the utensils I girl could ask for and their was plenty of seating for us all.

On to the facilities at the La Croix du Vieux Pont resort.

The highlight for all of us for the week was the pools. There are 4 different pools in the parc, including one with a retractable roof, a splash park and the beachside lagoon. The beachside lagoon was my favourite, some evenings the girls were still splashing around in their at 8/9pm. They were living the dream and their smiles said it all!

As well as the pools other facilities at the holiday parc include; table tennis, football pitches, high ropes, a zip line, pool tables, bowling crazy golf and many more – most of these activities come with an extra cost. There is also the kids clubs which are completely free, they have different groups for all ages and include activities such as water wars, zorbing, circus skills and archery (to name a few). The girls didn’t fancy the kids club on this holiday, sometimes they can’t wait to get in them other they just prefer to hang out with us – I don’t mind either way.

There is also the lake which is nice for just relaxing and having a picnic, hiring a pedalo, trampolining for the kids and visiting the ducks! There were so many new little ducklings when we visited the girls wanted to go and see them every single day.

The La Croix du Vieux Pont parc is also in a prime location if you want to visit Disneyland Paris! It’s 90 minutes away and the resort also put on a shuttle bus service. We decided to drive ourselves so we could stay late for the illuminations, I am so glad we did it was incredible.
We had the best day at Disneyland, I am going to write a full bog post on in but if you want a sneak peak you can see the moment we surprised the girls with it here. They had no idea at all we were going to Disneyland, I had been bursting to tell them for weeks!

Food wise, on site you have a couple of different options if you don’t fancy cooking yourself. There is the Brasserie Macao located by the pool, great if you want to then move into the bar to watch the evening entertainment. There’s Macao Beach by the beach pool which we had drinks at and ate a couple of times. It’s such a nice, chilled atmosphere in there and the kids could play on the beach for as long as they liked. There’s also the takeaway, it was good for grabbing a quick portion of chips at lunch but to be honest we had a pizza and a burger from there and I didn’t really rate it at all – much better off using your own BBQ!

Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont

We had a wonderful time staying at the La Croix du Vieux Pont with Eurocamp, we fell into such a lovely routine and I loved seeing the girls just running free with no distractions from TV or tablets it was blissful to switch off from all of that.

There are so many fantastic destinations to explore with Eurocamp, I for one cannot wait to start planning our next adventure.
