Last night my friend and I went to see Fame – The Musical at the Bournemouth Pavilion.
Today I have driven my whole office mad my constantly bursting into song.
Now that is a sign of a good night.
I love a good stage show so I have been really excited to see Fame, and it did not disappoint at all!
Fame – The Musical is on tour to celebrate it’s 30 year anniversary and has been up and down the country wowing audiences.
For those who aren’t familiar with Fame, the show tells the story the students at New York’s High School For The Performing Arts as they navigate their way through the highs and lows, the romances and the heartbreaks and the ultimate elation of life. This bittersweet but uplifting triumph of a show explores the issues such as prejudice, identity, pride, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse and perseverance.
Although the story was written 30 years ago it still highlights the issues young people face every single day, it really hits home that although life has changed so much we still all face the same kind of problems.
The set itself was minimal but I always find that so much more effective, it lets the acting do the talking and it really did just that. It was a fantastic performance, the whole cast were incredibly talented, their voices, acting and dancing just blew me away from start to finish!
The energy in the room was electric, during the interval all I heard was praise and by the end we were all on our feet whooping and cheering.
The show managed to combine just the right amount of high energy choreography, live music, powerful songs and humour to create an amazing result.
I really would recommend to anyone who has a love for musical theatre.
Fame will be at Bournemouth Pavilion until the 31st August, don’t miss out. Keep up to date with whats on a The Pavilion on their Facebook page.
Huge thank you to Bournemouth Pavilion for gifting our tickets.
