It feels like such a long time ago that we took a long weekend family trip in Cornwall. So much has been going on in the mean time it feels like a distant memory – in reality it was only a few weeks ago that we were exploring the gorgeous seaside town of St.Ives.
St.Ives is one of my favourite places in Cornwall, there is just something about the quirky little town that I love. We’ve been a few times in the past but this time we were staying at the John Fowler holiday park, roughly a 10 minute drive from the harbour.
John Fowler Holiday parks have been providing family holidays for over 60 years with locations in Devon to Cornwall to Somerset, with options of lodges, caravans and even camping pitches.
For this trip we were staying in a Platinum Hot Tub Lodge. Our lodge had 4 bedrooms (2 twins, 2 doubles) perfect for a big family. It was so spacious with plenty of storage and a fully equipped kitchen. The hot tub was a huge highlight for us all – we love a good hot tub!
It is fantastic accommodation, really modern and comfortable. Bedding is included but things like towels aren’t so a tip would be: always pack lots of towels, you’ll need them for swimming, hot tubbing, showers and hand towels etc.
On site there is lots to do for families with children of all ages. We loved the swimming pool, it had a fun little slide which we perfect for my girls they just went up and down. We were there for a family fun swim too which meant lots of balls and nets going into the pool for us to have fun with. They also have adults only swim sessions.
The girls loves playing in the little park, we were so lucky with the weather on our weekend away it was gorgeous! We took advantage of the woodland walk and went for an explore. There’s another little park with a zip line which the girls zoomed up and down on before we carried on a little further to find a stream. The stream is surrounded by fields which will make the perfect picnic spot in the summer months!
In the evening’s we headed to the entertainment, it was the kind of cheesy holiday park entertainment you’d expect but we had a great time. We played some bingo, did some dancing and played some family games with a glass or two of wine enjoyed as well (me, not the kids don’t worry).
Theres a restaurant on site but other than the portion of cheesy chips I ordered one evening, we chose to cook in the lodge or eat in town. The food did look and smell fantastic though and the menu looked really varied.
We had great fun on our John Fowler holiday – A huge thanks to the team for hosting us.
