My little girls are growing into not so little girls before my eyes. It’s a scary prospect but the plus side is they are starting to appreciate the things I enjoy, such as a little pamper session.
I remember a time years ago, trying to get my nails done with Maisy rooting through my bag for a snack, Bella swinging round on the ‘twirly chair’ all whilst Lottie was attached to my boob and I was deciding between two shades of pink. The kids had a great time, couldn’t wait to go back, I had fresh nails by the end but I’m pretty sure the beautician needed a long lie down in a dark room afterwards. Thus forth I ensured I made subsequent appointments on child free occasions!
Fast forward to now and the girls are always wanting their nails painted or to use some of mummy fancy hand cream. While I don’t mind our little pamper sessions at home I will let you in on a little secret – I can’t paint nails. Never could and probably never will. You see I have very little patients and a rather unsteady hand. Not a good combo.
When the lovely Jennie of Jennie Jones Nails & Beauty invited the girls and I in for a little pamper afternoon I looked at the kids and thought yes – you are finally ready to try a trip to the beauticians again!
Jenny made us feel right at home in her beauty room, it is perfectly geared up to mums with younger children with a TV and some little toys. Jenny is a parent herself you see – so much easier when it’s mum to mum. Other mum’s don’t even question why your 4 year old is doing a head stand on the sofa – it’s just the norm!
We started off our pamper session with some delicious cupcakes! Definitely the way to win my girls over – cake always wins. And then it was on to nails, Jenny uses special child friendly nail polish for the kids, free from any toxins or nasties. They had a big selection and even had some nail art the girls were very impressed! Maisy opted for toes as she isn’t meant to wear polish to school.
They felt very grown up indeed! Then it was my turn, I had a shellac with red and gold, this was right before christmas so I was feeling rather festive.
It was a lovely afternoon for us, doing something a little bit different. The girls proceeded to show of their nails for days to come and I had perfectly shellac’d nails for weeks to come – even my vigorous washing up didn’t budge these bad boys.
Jennie offers a wide range of nail and beauty services from facials to lashes. I have been back for a couple of appointments since, I love the friendly homely feel – it’s just like sitting and having a cuppa with your friend. Jennie also offers children’s pamper parties and the mummy-daughter sessions. So if you are local to the Poole/Bournemouth area make sure you check her out. You can follow her business page here on Facebook to keep up to date.
