5 perfect places in Europe to take the little ones this year

Travelling the world can be a brilliant way to see all the sights on offer, and I can’t think of three better people to see it with than my girls. The world is full of hidden gems, with many being found in Europe which means our family may not have to travel far to enjoy plenty of exotic destinations. Without further ado, here are some of the perfect family trips available, just a short plane ride away.

1. Lanzarote, Spain

This Spanish island is one of the biggest islands in the area which means you won’t constantly be elbowing fellow tourists out of the way. The flights are a little under four hours from the UK’s capital meaning the journey isn’t too long. That’s code to us parents for less time we have to keep the kids entertained! To top it off, there are so many things to do here. From the various activities to the incredible black sand beaches, Lanzarote has plenty to offer everyone in the family. All year sunshine on this glorious island? Yes, please.

2. Sardinia, Italy

If you want somewhere in Italy that will keep the kids entertained and isn’t going to be too busy, like Rome or Venice, then consider Sardinia. This Italian island has nearly 2,000 km of coastline for you to enjoy – and for the little ones to build sandcastles on. If you head out of the north-east corner, then you’ll discover something pretty incredible. According to The Secret Traveller, this part of the island is pretty much untouched; meaning you can explore empty beaches and mountains with no other tourists in sight.

3. Corfu, Greece

It’s so hard to choose just one place in Greece, but after careful deliberation, I have it: Corfu. This little island is so small that you can easily make it from one end to the other in a day which leaves plenty of options for exploring. There are enough historical landmarks on this island that you can spend some of your time studying Greek history, while the food and drink on offer will help create that authentic Greek experience. Flights and hotels aren’t too costly either – travelling doesn’t have to be expensive! Did someone mention the crystal clear water? We’re there already!

4. Romania

This country is full of secret beauties, including many hidden waterfalls dotted throughout the landscape, that I struggled to pick just one place within Romania. There’s plenty of exploring for the little ones. Plus, if your family is like mine and are big on adventure then there could be another reason that Romania is calling your name. The country is known for its incredibly lengthy and picturesque biking trails, many of which come in various lengths and difficulties, so you know what you’re in for before heading out and about. If that wasn’t enough, you might even get a glimpse of Dracula’s Castle!

5. Majorca, Spain

It’s hard to ignore the Spanish islands this year as they offer up more and more every time. You can opt for a more peaceful holiday if that’s what you’re looking for, or you can join me and let your inner child out to play! There’s an Aqualand water park to keep you occupied, as well as tropical mini golf if you fancy a bit of putting. If that’s not your scene, there are so many miles of untouched beaches that lay just waiting to be explored. All while under the Spanish sun – what bliss.

Europe can be the perfect place to travel thanks to its accessibility. Plus, there is usually plenty of warm weather to make it feel as though you have booked an exotic holiday without the price tag. Have you scheduled anywhere in the continent for your next family adventure? Be sure to let me know!
