Pebbles Beaches & Bicton Botanical Gardens

Day 2 of our stay at Andrewshayes holiday park and my boy had to leave early to head back to work (boooooo!!!!) Being with someone who works offshore can be tough but my main way to make the time apart go faster is to keep myself busy busy busy. With this in mind the girls and I jumped in the car and headed over to Lyme Regis for the afternoon.

It was another beautifully sunny day so the seaside town of Lyme Regis was a perfect destination. The girls are used to the golden sands of our Poole beaches so they didn’t believe me that they were at the beach as we set up camp amongst the pebbles. It was pretty nice to visit a beach that didn’t leave us covered from head to toe in sand!

After such a full on few days it was really nice to just sit, chill, have an ice cream and fill pockets with stones – not my pockets mind although they did try. We grabbed some chips on the way back to the car and once again hopped in the hot tub on return. (I miss having a hot tube outside my front door!)

On our final day we were all up and out nice and early, we were kindly given ticket’s to visit Bicton Park Botanical Gardens so we set off to see what it was all about.

We were greeted by friendly staff who gave me the run down on the must do’s on our visit. It was so nice to arrive and not be asked “what’s blogging?”. With a map in hand and train tickets at the ready we headed to the small tractor play area before going on a train ride around the gardens. If it is your first time visiting I would definitely recommend the train ride first, it gives you a feel for the place (it’s pretty big) the girls spotted the huge outdoor play area as we went around and couldn’t wait to get in there.

The outdoor play area was great fun there was so much for the kids to do. Although it was pretty busy it just didn’t feel it as there was so much space; they made friends, swung on the swings, slid down slides and we stopped and had our picnic at one of the many picnic benches dotted around.

After some more play we went to check out the indoor play area, again we were all pleasantly surprised. It was spacious, clean and all the equipment was kept to a high standard – nobody enjoys a grubby soft play. I grabbed a coffee and the girls were off.

With so much to do and plenty of space to picnic, walk and enjoy just being outside Bicton Botanical Gardens really is the perfect family day out. If we lived any closer I would have definitely got an annual membership and spent half my summer there it was probably my favourite day of out whole trip.

We were all exhausted by the time we returned it was a night for a quick dinner and to get our bits packed up before heading home. Luckily it was only about an hours drive, we all slept like babies that night happy to be home with all the great memories of our week away.

A huge thank-you to Andrewshayes Holiday Park for giving us such a lovely time away.
