If your anything like me you’ll find it really satisfying to watch your children eat a good healthy meal or gobble down a bowl of fruit, I would love to be able to say that every evening my girls eat up all the veg on their plate but the truth is they don’t always, sometimes it can feel like a bit of a battle.
You have to of been hidden under a rock if you’ve missed all the media coverage on childhood obesity – it’s scary. On the whole I do like to think my girls eat a pretty good balanced diet and they do enjoy the odd treat, they love ice-cream (who doesn’t) but I like to keep it as a treat and not something they have everyday.
One thing I am a fan of is sneaking extra fruit and veg into food and drink and making it fun for them one of my favourite ways is with smoothies my girls love them there is never any arguments over how much fruit is going into them they love seeing it all mixed up.
When I was asked by Arla if I’d like to have a go at whipping up a smoothie with some of their ‘Big Milk’ I didn’t hesitate I knew the girls would really enjoy helping me with this.
Arla big milk is fresh whole milk that is enriched with key vitamins and minerals, containing iron which contributes to cognitive development, vitamin D for normal bone development and naturally rich in calcium for the development of strong bones and teeth. Arla big milk has been specifically designed to meet the needs of growing toddlers from the age of 1-5 as part of a balanced diet.
So really simple I used my Breville active blend because I love it so much, I don’t think I’ve mention it in a blog post before but you’ll of seen it if you follow me on Instagram it’s really quick and convenient, I just added all the ingredients which for my two toddlers was:
1 banana (frozen works really well in this)
2 handfuls of strawberries
a handful of blueberries
Roughly 300ml Arla big milk.
Whiz it all up for a minute or 2 and serve.
Ridiculously cute mini milk bottles are optional but I know my girls get so excited by these and will drink the lot!
They didn’t last long the kids really enjoyed them and I am happy knowing they are getting a couple of their 5 a day, calcium, iron, vitamin D and vitamin A all in one. Arla big milk has been a big hit and I am going to be sticking to it from now on.
