What I’m Reading

What I’m Reading

About a month or so ago it dawned on me I hadn’t read a proper book (you know with paper and everything) for almost a year! In fact I was half way through a book when Lottie was born and never did finish it, with a new born and two toddlers to run around after there was just never time. Then I started my blog and through myself into it, every spare minute I had would be spent developing that.

I’ve missed just snuggling up in bed and getting stuck into a really good book, deciding on just half an hour but getting so engrossed in it I’d sit up for hours unable to put it down I just needed to know what happened next. Last week I was heading up to London (child free) for the day so knew I’d have a few hours uninterrupted where I could have a good read and that is exactly what I did! I read 3/4’s of The Good Girl by Mary Kubica whilst on the train, I was so hooked the next day I just had to finish it. It was then I realised how much I wanted to get back into reading, I will be by no means reading a book or two a week like I used to but I now have a few I’m working my way slowly through and thought I would share them with you!

  • As mentioned above The Good Girl by Mary Kurica – I’ve finished this one now and its brilliant a real page turner with unexpected twists throughout!
  • Confessions Of A Mother Inferior by Erika Waller – this is the book I’ve just started reading and it has had me giggling and nodding along already really enjoying it so far.
  • Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn – After the success of Gone Girl I HAD to get her next book!
  • Take A Chance On Me by Jill Mansell – I love her books, have read lots in the past and was working my way through a bunch in the library before having Lottie I spotted this one in WH Smiths and can’t wait to start reading it. what I'm reading

So thats what I’m working my was through at the moment. What are you reading? Any recommendations for me?

I try to make a point of reading at least a few pages of a book every night no matter how tired I am. I’m reading The Book of You by Claire Kendal for MumsNet at the moment and it is great, a real page turner #weekendbookclub

Like you, I was half way through a book when my baby was born and I just picked it up again this week. The good girl looks interesting, I might try to pick that up for our plane next week.

I’ve heard a lot about The Good Girl, that is on my to read list. I’ve managed to read quite a few in January but I’ve slowed down now, need to make more time for it again! I really enjoyed The Miniaturist and Wonder, they were good page-tuners! xx

I didn’t read for a while after having our daughter … I’m now starting to get properly into reading again, 17 months later!

I just read ‘Landline’ by Rainbow Rowell … that had me hooked, I couldn’t stop reading it.

Really want to read ‘Sharp Objects’ as Gone Girl made me feel awed and infuriated at the same time and I’d like to see what else she has written 🙂

I miss reading books, I would also have about 3 books on the go at once!! I must make more time, I am sure that was a resolution of mine a very long time ago!! Need to dust of my books!! Sometimes a bit too heavy for night reading, maybe I need to read at girls nap! But then when would I blog? Oh the drama! Ha ha! xxx

I love Jill Mansell! Her covers are always so pretty as well, not that that’s the most important thing, but certainly what first drew me in! I need to read more again, blogging has taken over since I started! #weekendbookclub
