The second trimester is often called the “honeymoon phase” of pregnancy – morning sickness starts to eases off, energy levels return, and you finally start to enjoy your growing bump. But that doesn’t mean it’s all smooth sailing! From restless nights to new aches and pains, having the right essentials can make all the difference.
Here are my second trimester pregnancy essentials that are helping me stay comfortable, hydrated, and a little more me while growing this baby.

1. A Supportive Pregnancy Pillow
Sleep in pregnancy can be tricky – between bump support, hip pain, and endless trips to the loo, this pregnancy pillow is a total game-changer!
These pillows are designed to support your belly, hips, and back, helping you find a comfortable sleeping position (especially if you’re adjusting to side-sleeping). I honestly don’t know how I’d get any decent rest without one.
If you only invest in one thing this trimester, make it the momcozy pregnancy pillow.
2. An Insulated Water Bottle
Hydration is so important during pregnancy, but I found myself constantly reaching for lukewarm water – not exactly appealing. Enter: a good quality water bottle (preferably one with a straw) that keeps drinks cold all day.
It’s been a lifesaver, especially when I’m out and about or up during the night. Staying hydrated also helps with headaches, energy, and even keeping Braxton Hicks at bay later on.
Tip: Add a slice of lemon or cucumber for a refreshing boost you wont regret it!
3. Comfortable Maternity Clothes (Loving H&M!)
By the second trimester, your bump starts to pop and squeezing into pre-pregnancy jeans is not the vibe. This is where good maternity clothes come in.
I’ve been absolutely loving the maternity range from H&M. Their bump-friendly leggings, soft jersey dresses, and over-the-bump jeans are comfy without looking frumpy, and they don’t break the bank either.
4. Migraine Cooling Pads
One thing I have not been loving in this pregnancy? The hormonal headaches and migraines. Painkillers aren’t always an option, so I’ve been relying on migraine cooling head pads for relief.
You just stick one on your forehead, and the cooling sensation really helps ease tension and dull the pain, especially handy on hot days or when you’re trying to avoid extra medication.
5. Electrolytes for Energy & Hydration
Pregnancy can leave you feeling dehydrated, dizzy, or just generally drained and plain water doesn’t always cut it. That’s where electrolytes come in, I am loving the Free Soul Hydrate electrolytes!
I’ve been using pregnancy-safe electrolyte sachets to help replenish fluids and minerals, particularly on days I feel extra tired or if I’ve had sickness earlier on. They’ve been a small but mighty essential in keeping my energy levels up.
Bonus Essentials Worth Mentioning
-
Stretch mark cream or oil – keeping your bump and hips moisturised helps with skin tightness and itchiness.
-
Slip-on shoes – because bending down gets harder as the weeks go on!
-
Snacks in your bag – blood sugar dips are real in pregnancy, so I always keep a cereal bar or nuts handy.
