It has been a longggg time since the children and I just upped and left on a little girls trip. Largely because of Covid and the fact that our girl gang grew by one more member! Now Elsie’s at a much easier age to travel with and restrictions are more or less done with we can get back to our exploring.
I love traveling to new cities with the girls, I hadn’t realised how much I’ve missed it until this recent trip to Liverpool. I definitely have the bug for travel again and can’t wait until our next adventure.
Liverpool was awesome. We were only there for a couple of nights but could have easily made it a few more. I spotted so many cute little cafe’s and bars that I would love to try. Obviously this was a trip with the children so unfortunately no bars were visited but it would make a fantastic girls weekend.
The girls and I were invited to stay in the gorgeous INNSiDE By Melia hotel. We are a big family so had two interconnecting rooms. Traveling as a large family can be tough when it comes to room sizes so I was thrilled they had this option available.

The rooms themselves were very lovely very bright and light with modern interiors. The huge floor to ceiling windows gave us gorgeous views out over the city. Elsie was particularly thrilled to have a freestanding bath in our room as it meant she could splash splash splash when ever she wanted!
The hotels location was amazing, with loads of great restaurants and bars surrounding it and just a 5 minute walk to the Albert Docks and Liverpool One. There isn’t any parking at the hotel but there is lots of parking options near by.
INNSiDE Liverpool also houses the fantastic Gino Dicampo Restaurant on its ground floor which is where the girls and I ate on our first night.

The food was fantastic as was the atmosphere. We had a great evening, it was so nice to not feel rushed knowing that bed was just a 30 second lift ride away was amazing! We just sat chatting, giggling and generally having a lovely time.
The next morning, after a nice big breakfast. Not going to lie I went up to the self service buffet 3 times! We headed out. Our first stop was the World Museum.

The world museum is set over 5 floors, containing Aquarium, dinosaur, ancient Egypt, and world cultural exhibitions as well as a planetarium and it’s completely FREE entry. However you can make a small donation which I did but £5 for a day our for all of us – incredible! We spent a good few hours here and didn’t even see every exhibition, the girls absolutely loved the ancient Egypt floor. We were visiting in half term so it was super busy, with a pushchair the life access was a little bit of a nightmare as they kept going past us full. although we did eventually manage to get in them. Baring in mind that it is free and there’s so much to see and do I would highly recommend.
After that we headed down to Liverpool One for some lunch and a little retail therapy. The shopping was amazing, I can’t tell you how nice it was to see a full shopping centre, no empty units in sight! The girls all still had some pennies left over from birthdays/christmas so went on a bit of a shopping spree.

Such a fun filled day, we were all shattered by the end of it so chilled out in our rooms with lots of snacks, facemarks and watched a film – bliss.
Our second and final day started much like the first, we filled up at the hotel for breakfast and then headed out. This time to explore the Albert Docks. Our first stop was the Tate. Maisy loves art so taking the girls to an art gallery was really more for her but I was so surprised when we arrived that there was a great family room with sketchbooks for the kids.

Again the Tate is free entry. Although I made a small donation. It was great, really inspirational.
After, we took a little walk around the docks, stopped off in a cafe for lunch before setting off for home.
All in all an incredible 48 hours, Liverpool is a fantastic city we can’t wait to come back!
