One of my oldest and closest friends in the world is due to become a mummy any day now! When she first told me amongst the squeals of excitement I begged her to let me take care of the baby shower – slightly early but I am usually the one being pregnant so this was just as exciting for me to be able to get stuck in with the party planning.
The months soon flew by and we had a lovely little party for her at home with some more friends. It was a real laugh so I thought I would share some idea’s for throwing and awesome baby shower and some of the products I used!
Pregnant or not everyone loves some party food it just has to be done! Giving things a special little twist for a baby shower can be so so simple.
A little bit of melted white chocolate and some colourful sprinkles are a really simple but effective way to jazz up the party food. They look so good on the table (taste pretty awesome too) but take just minutes to make!
Decorations were kept quite simple, she’s expecting a little girl in case you didn’t guess! Feather Grey have a beautiful selection of baby shower decorations. Pastely colours like this are my favourite with cake toppers and bunting that can be personalised to add a little something special to the day. My friend loved this bunting.
Of corse some really cute cakes were needed for the occasion, there always needs to be cake! I would love to take credit for these but no they were made by the lovely Lou Lou’s if you’re in Dorset and you need a cake she’s your lady!
Games are great fun at a baby shower here’s 5 quick idea’s of some you can easily make yourself.
- Baby bingo
- Pins in popcorn – not as dangerous as it sounds, big bowl of pop corn and you hide little plastic nappy pins in there. The player is blind folded and has to dig them out – so much harder than it sounds but hilarious.
- Stick the dummy on the baby – you can pick these up for a couple of quid online or if you are any good at drawing create your own!
- Guess what’s in the nappy – pretty rank but it is funny I did this at one of my showers by melting down different chocolate bars and smearing them into a clean nappy. The guest then have a good inspection and guess what they are.
- How many dummies in the bottle – big clear bottle filled with dummies and leave the guests to guess how many are inside. Also makes a nice decoration.
Finally there’s the gift, a friend and I wanted to give the mum to be something that was fun but also practical, we decided to make our very own nappy cake. Now I hold my hands up I am rubbish at this kind of stuff but after some online searching I thought we could do it, here’s what we came up with..
Not the best photo as it was late by the time we finished but I am dead proud of our creation it was so easy, didn’t cost a great deal and makes a really cool table centre piece. I also love that all products in there are going to come in handy at some point with some extras also in their for mum such as the Shea Mootie candle on top perfect little gift for new mums looking to relax.
We all had a great time the baby shower went so well.
I hope this post has given you some idea’s if you have a baby shower coming up soon!
