I recently watched a vlog by my lovely friend Heledd from Running In Lavender, it was just her chatting away in her kitchen. The whole way through I had some serious kitchen envy, I loved how bright and big it looked. It got me thinking about my dream home and how I would like it to look when the day eventually comes that me and my girls get our forever home.
My forever home is something I day dream about all the time and it always starts at the kitchen, the hub of the house the place where the children will come into from school to grab a snack and tell me all about their day while I prep dinner or the place friends and I will sit and have a glass of wine and gossip over some nibbles. To me it’s without a doubt the most important room of a house.
You go through the front door in my forever home and straight ahead is the hub of the house where I’d probably be found tapping away on the laptop and drinking a cup of tea. A big modern kitchen which has a homely feel to it. Wooden work tops and a white ceramic sink, and an island in the middle we can all gather around. It’ll never be immaculate or show home ready and you can almost put money on one of my darling children scribbling on one of the cream walls but it’ll be our home and that’s all that matters.
The forever house I picture isn’t gigantic, it doesn’t have a gated entry with a long drive way or a billion bedrooms, it’s just a four bed detached house in a nice neighbourhood. My girls can each have their own bedroom decorated how ever they like and I’ll have room to swing a cat if I should want too. With a cosy lounge and 2 bathrooms, yep that’s right one for me and one for the kids so I can have my own little sanctuary to relax at the end of a manic day.
I do love the house we’re in at the moment but it’s not ours it’s rented, it seems a long way off but one day we will get there and when I get the keys and we go in and put our own stamp on our forever home I can look back on this post and smile.

After private renting 3 houses in the past, over a year ago we bought our first house/home. It feels more like a home than any of the other 3 but my god it’s HARD work and really expensive!

We’ve recently done things the otherway round. We lived in our own flat for 12 years and decided to sell up and rent a big house. It might not be our name on the mortgage but I love it and hope we get to stay here for a while yet! #twinklytuesday

Amy I love the kitchen in the top pic that is the kitchen I would choose, we inherited our kitchen and although it is lovely I would never had chosen it, it is just not kid friendly, x

You have just described my dream house, we rent too and I cannot wait to have our own home. Especially today as we have a leak in the roof and some of the ceiling has fallen down by the front door, I want to move house so much. x
