We have made it to the end of the first half term for this academic year!
I think we have all breathed a sigh of relief as we did that last school drop off this morning. It’s been a long term for me partly due to the girls continual habit to forget everything.
So far we’ve had an entire school uniform, one school shoe, a pair of football boots, a lunch box along with countless ties and pencil cases going missing at school. Luckily we’ve been reunited with each item within a few days but the stress on a Wednesday morning to discover a whole uniform is missing is not fun. Bella’s face when I told her she would have to go in to school in just her pants was mildly amusing though.
One thing that has not let us down is our school shoes, before the girls went back to school they were very kindly gifted some new shoes from Treads. They have been well and truly put to the test, even experiencing a trip to lost property (poor shoe).
This was my first time buying the children’s school shoes from Treads and also online! I have always liked to take the girls into store so the could be measured properly but Treads send out a measurement kit which allowed for me to measure in the the comfort of our own home. It was so easy to use to get the correct sizes and really convenient. We all know kids aren’t always in the mood to hang around busy shops waiting for their turn to be measured. Doing it myself was great!
The moment of truth; for my measuring skills were when the shoes arrived.Luckily they were spot on with just the right amount of growing room to ensure they will last! Perfect! Maisy has the Brisbane shoes and Bella the Alberta. They also have a dual fitting system so you can remove the under layer for a wider fit. We all know school shoes aren’t cheap so it’s a great little touch.
With a padded collar and cushioned heel they provide all day comfort – and they really do. The girls leave the house at half past 7, some evenings don’t get home until 5pm with no complaints at all.
Treads shoes also come with a 12 Month Indestructible Guarantee, 7 weeks in and I can see why – they still look brand new despite the girls best efforts!
The girls love their shoes and so do I, Treads have been kind enough to give one of my readers the chance to experience how good they are for yourselves with the opportunity to win a pair of shoes(worth up to £45)! Just enter below via rafflecopter widget to be in with the chance.

Forgetting to set the alarm and sleeping in š
Getting the kids up and ready and taking them to school only to realise I was a day early. Not funny at the time but I can laugh about it now.
forgetting it was a teacher training day
Like most other people, not remembering it was a teacher training day.
When I was young my father was posted abroad, so I had to go to a new school where instruction was in French. On the first day I was picked up by school bus. When we reached the school I followed some children who looked about my age, and sat myself at a spare desk. The teacher came in and said something I didn’t understand. The children all responded and again I understood nothing. She gave them instructions, and the children got out their books and started working. Eventually the teacher noticed me, came over and spoke to me in a language I didn’t understand. She then told me in English that I was in the class for Dutch speakers. I just thought that my French was really bad and that was why I had not understood a word that was being said.
When I was a girl my father was posted abroad, and so I would have to attend a new school where instruction would be in French. I had already learned some French, so although apprehensive, thought I would be able to manage. On the first day I got the school bus, then followed some children who looked about my age and sat myself at an empty desk. The teacher came in and said something I didn’t understand. The children all responded and again I didn’t understand. The children started working, and I got really worried as I could not follow the teacher’s instructions. Eventually she noticed me and said something to me that I didn’t understand. She then told me in English that I was in the class for Dutch speakers! I was so relieved as I had begun to think that my French must be really bad.
I once went to school not knowing it was a teachers training day and stood in the rain until a teacher came out and told me āāļø
I took the children to school a day early after the summer holidays, they were thrilled but i felt like an idiot walking back home for all to see my mistake
I took my Son to the wrong school, we have two reasonably near each other, i was running really late, took him to school and then found i was at the wrong one
On my daughters first day of school I went to pick her up at the end of the day, and, as always, I was really early. The school gate was open, so I walked through, wondering where exactly I would pick her up from. The gate shut behind me, and then more parents started to arrive. On the other side of the gate! I was in the wrong place! I felt socially awkward. Not a good impression to make with other parents I thought! I think our daughter made a better first impression than I did
Rushing to the school and falling arse over tit
I don’t have any funny stories.
The school was a long way from where I lived and I went back a day too early and bumped into someone on the way back home, how embarrassed was I!!

Not my child but when I picked up my boy from nursery a girl exclaimed to her mum ” you came back for me !” Lol I was in stitches

My daughter throwing up outside our neighbours house just as we were taking her sister to school. I had to call for backup as i took her back in the house and she promptly fell asleep meaning we couldn’t get to school. I also had to go out with buckets of water and clean the pavement.
