The girls and I love a good games night. An evening with no screens, no youtube. Just us, a big bowl of popcorn and a good game.
We were recently sent the game ‘5 Second Rule‘ which called for an immediate family game night.
5 Second Rule is aimed at those 8+ but although Bella and Lottie are only 7 & 5 we still had great fun, they did require a little help but I would say if you work in teams little ones will also have great fun with this board game too.
The concept of the game is pretty simple. The person to your left selects a card and asks you ‘can you name 3 breeds of dog?’ for example. You then have 5 seconds to answer as quickly as you can. It sounds easy but add the pressure of a timer and you get some hilarious answers.
Lottie was asked to ‘name three cartoons..’ to which she answered – cartoon one, cartoon two. James and I were rolling in hysterics to that one.
If you can’t answer it’s then passed onto the next player but they can’t use the same answers again making it harder and harder. You also have cards to play which let you switch or pass. The winner of the game is the one to get around the board the quickest, it’s super simple but it’s really so funny. There are so many cards in the game you can play it over and over again.
We had so much fun playing this game that once the kids were in bed James and I had a rematch! I can see it being a firm favourite in our household.
I also have a game for you guys to win! If you want to win ‘5 second rule’ and see who is the fastest thinker in your family just enter via the gleam widget below the winner will be announced on my twitter on Friday 15th March.
This game was sent to us for the purpose of the review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
