Our national trust adventures have continued over the summer holidays! Recently we took the girls over to Mottisfont to explore all that it has to offer. Mottisfont National Trust is located in Romsey, it boasts a gorgeous house and gallery set in some of the most beautiful riverside gardens I have ever seen.
We have visited Mottisfont once before; we loved it but it was only a quick visit. I was desperate to get back at some point during these holidays to really enjoy it. It is just over an hours drive for us so it is one of those days out that needs a little planning ahead.
As it’s the holiday’s we took Scott’s nieces with us, it’s no nice having all the kids off its a great chance for us to see them and the girls to all play together.
We were so lucky that after such a rainy week the weather was on our side, we certainly made the most of it.
We headed straight onto the Gruffalo and Friends trail, as far as trails go (I have done my fair share) this was the best yet!
There was so much for the kids to see, do and get stuck in with as we followed the map around the grounds looking for clues. I love how interactive it was; there was no chance of these girls getting bored as we dressed up, had sword fights and even attended a scarecrow’s wedding.
The loved being able to recognise all their favourite characters as we went. I can’t recommend the trail enough if you happen to be visiting its definitely worth doing.
It is pretty long so we had plenty of breaks for drinks, snacks and sit downs along the way. That is the beauty of being somewhere like Mottisfont you have small play areas, picnic benches and grassy areas everywhere that you can stop off at.
My favourite part of any National Trust day out is always walking around the gardens and looking at the beautiful flowers, they’re so perfectly maintained and make gorgeous photo spots. As much as the girls do enjoy admiring some pretty flowers from time to time having two extra playmates meant they were only interested in running riot!
We had such a fun day visiting Mottisfont National Trust, it is such a beautiful place and the Gruffalo Trail made it just perfect for kids.
Our National Trust pass has been put to good use over the past few months, I am so glad we signed up. They are brilliant for families and really save so much money on days out. Check out My Voucher Codes for some awesome deals.
