National Trust Adventures – Brownsea Island

We’ve been off on more fun National Trust Adventures! This time we jumped on a boat and visited Brownsea Island for the day.

Brownsea Island is just a short ferry ride from either Poole Quay or Sandbanks but that simple 10 minute boat ride is enough to make it the best day ever for children.

We headed over on a gorgeous sunny August day to discover all the island had to offer. As someone who has lived  in the Poole area my whole life it’s shocking that this was only the second time I have ever visited. The last being a school trip when I was about 8.

I have been keen to take the girls for a long time and I am so happy we finally did.

On a gorgeous day being on this funny little island actually felt link being abroad; it was beautiful. We walked more or less the length of the island which in uncomfortable sandals was a task in itself. With so many pretty view points and so much to see and explore the kids really didn’t mind to much.

We paddled, climbed, picnicked, saw some peacocks & red squirrels it was such a nice day out.

As we were heading back towards the cafe in search of a much needed ice cream and a cup of tea for me, we came across a massive natural play area. It was so impressive the the amount of fun activities that had been created for the kids to enjoy. It was a huge hit that we didn’t even know was there.

For anyone visiting I would definitely recommend finding it!

Two little girlies, enjoying the boat ride home after such a fun filled day!
