Andrewshayes Holiday Park; a half term Devon break

I left off in my last post in a packed car, singing to Moana as we headed from Cornwall to Devon for part two of our half term break.

We arrived at Andrewshayes Holiday Park at about 8pm, all pretty exhausted from a busy day we wasted no time in unpacking our bits and getting a good night sleep. First impressions were great the caravan was immaculate, well equipped and had loads of storage. I was so excited to see we had been upgraded from a luxury 3 bed to a luxury 3 bed WITH HOT TUB! Well it took all my will power not to just jump in there and then.

It’s been a long long time since I have stayed in a caravan so I was pleasantly surprised to see just how far they have come along since I was a child.

Day one we headed straight to the covered swimming pool after breakfast, before we left for this trip I told the girls there would be a pool and it was alllllll I was asked about until this moment.

The pool was a really great size, it was kept to a high standard of cleanliness with lots of seating around the outside and best bit it was warm! Cold swimming pools are the worst. We spent a good couple of hours swimming, splashing, playing ball and jumping in – we left with three thoroughly worn out little girls.

Not too worn out though, the changing facilities at the pool were kind of none existent there was a couple of changing rooms but as we were only a few doors down we pulled on our towels, ran back and jumped into the jacuzzi (not literally that would be against the ever so in depth jacuzzi rules). It was big, bubbly and well just pretty lush – all you really want from a hot tub!

That afternoon we took the short drive into Axminster in search of food! We found the River Cottage Canteen & Deli, not going to lie we were completely drawn in by all the pastries and cheeses you see through the window – it was our idea of heaven.
The menu was small but delicious I went for the goat’s cheese and red onion tart, Scott went for a veal burger and the girls were happy with some humous and flatbread. I picked up a bunch of cheeses from the deli for dinner and then we walked around the town to find some ice cream (who ever said swimming makes you hungry was right!)

Phew I forgot what a busy day we had – I have so much more to share I am going to make this into two posts, come back tomorrow for a day at Lyme Regis and a visit to Bicton Botanical gardens!

Get a sneak peak here by checking out the video of our trip…

We were invited to stay at Andrewshayes holiday park to share our experience. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
