A Weekend Away With SenSpa At Careys Manor Hotel

Even by just thinking back to the weekend of pampering I’ve had at Carey’s Manor I instantly relax a little, I love a good spa day and their SenSpa is 100% up there with the best I have been in – ever. Careys Manor Hotel is situated in the beautiful New Forest countryside, the SenSpa is an authentic Thai spa which boasts 5 star facilities focusing on holistic wellness.

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who offered us drinks and talked us through what our stay would entail, they were very accommodating changing our previously booked lunch reservation for a later time and scheduling further treatments in for us. After a quick tour of what’s what we were left to our own devices to explore, relax and enjoy. The bubbles were calling me so into the world class hydrotherapy facilities I headed.

Sinking into the underwater benches and feeling those bubbles relieve tensions is exactly what my body needed, the next couple of hours were spent drifting between the herbal sauna, crystal steam room and pool before heading for a well needed lunch in the Zen Garden restaurant.

We enjoyed a two course lunch of authentic Thai cuisine in our robes! The Zen Garden Restaurant is open through out the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as being available for drinks and snacks – this spa lark is hungry work.

Our first treatment was an AlphaSphere Deluxe which is a unique sensory experience which uses sound and colour therapy, vibrations and aromatherapy to promote deep relaxation and clear your mind. Now when it comes to all this meditation etc I am a little bit pessimistic my brain is constantly whirling with thoughts, ideas and to do lists. As I lay in the pod with it all going around me I found it hard to initially get myself to switch off, and then suddenly it seemed to be over and I had some how drifted into some what of a deep coma/sound asleep! It actually worked and I did leave feeling so relaxed. SenSpa is the first spa and wellness destination in the UK to offer the AlphaSphere treatment it’s a quick 25 minutes so if you are looking for something to help you switch off and unwind then go for it!

The next treatment was a facial – I had the new SenSpa Acu-Firm 60 minute facial; this age-defying facial uses the spa therapy skincare collection combined with a face lifting massage and Thai techniques to restore radiance and youthfulness. It was lovely I felt so relaxed knowing my face was in good hands as it was cleansed, exfoliated, masked and then even covered in manuka honey, my skin was left feeling silky soft and dare I say a little radiant!

Treatments complete we headed to check into our room before dinner. We stayed in one of the Oakwood Garden Rooms, providing us comfort, space with pinch of luxury.

The room was beautiful combining simplistic yet modern and fresh decor, while providing comfort with a king sized bed, a sofa and seating area, air conditioning, an ensuite and tea and coffee making facilities. The Juliette doors overlook the Manor’s gardens, despite it pouring with rain we still had a picturesque view which added to the relaxing atmosphere.

Dinner was served in the stunning Cambium Restaurant we each chose three courses from the traditional yet incredible menu inspired by the essence of the New Forest.

Course after course was delicious, cooked to perfection and so full of flavour. I tried partridge for the first time and loved it!

Service in the Cambium Restaurant was second to none, everyone was attentive and we felt really well looked after; drinks didn’t go empty, plates were quickly cleared and the time between dishes was well spaced. We had a lovely evening of eating, drinking and chatting before a long day of relaxing caught up with us.

We started our Sunday with a big old breakfast in the Zen Garden Restaurant, a large selection of cooked and continental dishes were available in a buffet style. Both well fed and watered we headed back into the spa for a last dip before it was time to leave.

Our stay at Careys Manor and SenSpa was perfect, we reluctantly left feeling completely relaxed and a little bit spoilt. It is the ideal destination for a romantic couples retreat or a cheeky weekend break with the girls. Have me back anytime – a big thank-you to everyone for looking after us and making our stay so much fun.
