The real reasons why women should learn martial arts – Guest Post

I am getting back into my fitness after a few weeks out and it feels great! I think the key to enjoying exercise is finding something that you actually enjoy doing. Not everyone enjoys a gruelling HIIT session but there are plenty of other ways to keep yourself in shape – maybe that’s walking, cycling even skiing! I used to love martial arts back in my younger days Karate and kick boxing being my choice, today I bring you a guest post from Sabrina Klein on the reasons women should be learning marital arts.

I believe that it’s never too late to start something, and no matter what age. The reason I’m saying this is because I have recently experienced something that I wished I had started sooner. And that was Martial arts. The world of Martial arts is huge and there are a variety of reasons why people practice it like self-defense, physical health and fitness, as well as mental and spiritual development. Sure you will get fit and toned and have a body to die for, but I’m going to break it down and let you in on the real reasons how martial arts can benefit women.

Stand out from the crowd

A lot more women are taking up martial arts now that they’ve seen what Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey can do. They’re an inspiration to us women who can kick any guys ass and that is somewhat quite hot in both female and the male eyes. No doubt there has been a rise of women joining martial arts but when you join a class there might be a probability that you are the only female. I see it as kind of fun and feel a little special as there is something cool about being the odd one out. Guys will admire you that you want to learn and find that interesting about you, plus you’ll have something in common to talk about! Hurrah!

Flexibility everywhere

With so many options from Karate to Jiu Jitsu, there is bound to be something to suit everyone. You’ve just got to find which one you think you will enjoy the most and if you put your mind to it, you could do anything! It’s incredibly easy to get into and you can see more fighting styles at Martial Tribes, and check out their videos for some motivation! This site also lets you connect with masters and instructors from all over the world, so start a conversation and ask them any question you like. After a few sessions you will notice a great improvement in your flexibility, you need to make sure you stretch properly before and after an intense martial art class. The more flexible the better your kicks, punches and overall performance will be, not to mention in the bedroom too.

All the health benefits

In today’s world, many women have the same levels of work related stress that have traditionally affected men. And then on top of that we got the kids to look after which means hardly any time for ourselves. Many women need to balance the most challenging job in the world, raising children with full time careers and martial arts can help us by reducing our stress. Let me tell you, it feels great when you kick and punch something and sometimes you just need that. Martial arts can improve the quality of your immune system and get your digestive organs functioning properly, and being flexible will prevent you from having any injuries too!

Being on point

When you have released the stress, it can help you become more focused and improve concentration. Through the many Martial Arts practices, it can also improve reflexes and help keep a woman’s memory sharp helping you be more productive in your days. Self defense is a great skill to have and will boost anyone’s confidence up to the high heavens. But remember, to be able to feel like you just got it all, is a good feeling and to stay humble about it is even better.

Glowing like a Goddess

After a few sessions, I feel my skin getting clearer, my body feeling firmer and tighter but best of all my cellulite slowly shrinking or disappearing! These effects just makes me even more motivated to train harder and I would recommend it to everyone, not just women but for men and kids too.

Most women do not want to be the only woman in a martial arts class. It’s great that you to bring up the positive side of it.

Personally, I do agree that women must learn martial arts and have a chance to defend themselves. I have a girlfriend and I teach her all of what I learn in karate. Moreover, this article has thought me also everything that karate is not about self-defense it also about a healthy leaving and fitness so that I’m going to share these important statistics.

I couldn’t agree more with this post. I’ve was encouraging my girlfriend to start martial arts but she was hesitant since it’s considered a ”manly” thing. It’s been a while now since she started Judo and she’s loving it! Women in this day and age perhaps needed even more than men
