Rosie – 1 Year on

You guys might remember around this time last year we welcomed a new addition to our home Rosie the little black cat.

It has been quite a year, she’s up there with the most craziest of cats in the world for sure. When I was first thinking about get a pet for the family I thought a kitten would be a good starting place – quite easy to look after they generally just want to cuddle/sleep/eat they kind of get on with it themselves and they’re small so perfect for around my young girls too.

From day one Bella has been obsessed with Rosie, sometimes a little too much, she treats her like her little baby but I think Rosie does love it she always jumps on Bella’s lap first.

We lost Rosie a few weeks ago for 4 days it was awful the girls were all getting really worried It made me realise how important microchipping and pet insurance is. I had it done when she was about 8 weeks and didn’t really think much of it, it was a simple procedure which caused her minimal discomfort I kind of forgot about it. When she did disappear I was so relieved that I did make the choice to have it done. What actually happened was she had gotten herself stuck in a shed over the road and was returned looking a little skinny but no harm actually done I am just glad she had the chip so she was returned to us really quickly. From the 6th April 2016 it will actually be a legal requirement for all dogs in England, Scotland and Wales to be microchipped – hopefully the rule will soon follow for cats as well.

However Rosie’s finest moment too date was this..

What’s that you ask? XL Pigeon on top of that lamppost. No. It’s Rosie. What a place to take five.

So on that day I discovered that it is actually a myth and firemen do not come out if your cat is stuck up a tree/lamppost.
I also discovered my cat has super powers. It was an eventful few hours (in the rain did I mention) until a window cleaner came and saved the day. Feel I need to point out Rosie was fine and uninjured she just felt the need to climb a lamppost that day. I on the other hand was completely traumatised after people kept coming out of their homes to take a snap.

Minus the dramas this little one has given us she has been a great little addition to our home and we wouldn’t be without her now!

Yikes I can’t believe she got up there, I’m not surprised you were traumatised! Now my cats are a bit older they don’t have so many ‘wandering’ days out. I’ve got myself in a state so many times over where they might be, but then the cat flap clicks and there they are no care in the world having had a great time out playing.

Oh Amy I feel terrible but that last bit reeeeeally made me chuckle!!! Ok, that’s a lie, I don’t feel terrible and I’m unashamedly chuckling! I have to say, cats are the most insane animals – I’ve had our stuck in random places and then one time Bubbles bought home a squirrel (alive) and a rabbit in the space of two weeks!! Eeeekkk!

Micro chipping is so important. I’ve always microchipped my pets. When my cat went missing though he never made it home even with the micro chip. I prefer to think he just found a new family who gave him tastier treats. Even though we never got him back knowing that he was microchipped and therefore if he was found he would be returned kept me sane.

Oh my God I can’t believe the cat got up on that lamp post. This would be something my Bailey would be up to. He’s mad into opening doors
