Yesterday was International peace day, a day declared by The General Assembly to be devoted to us strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.
World peace is in the forefront of most of our minds recently with the crisis in Syria it’s utterly heart breaking and everyone has their own opinions. I know I have had may discusses/debates with friends and family over what it the right corse of action to take to help these refugees and help the countries.
While this is obviously a very important subject someone international peace day made me think more about the peace within myself.
Bit deep for a Tuesday afternoon I know but it really did after all how can we expect a peaceful world when a large percentage of us are at war with ourselves over usually quite silly materialistic things. How often do you say things like ‘I’m no no good at this’ or even worrying about the future and how things are going to pan out. I think a lot of us have these thoughts regularly and once you set yourself up for the day like this it’s difficult to shake that unhappy mood.
With three young girls it is important for me to try and teach them about peace and happiness but it is slightly hypocritical to when I’m constantly battling with myself.
I know keeping your self calm and positive isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Keeping yourself surrounded with likeminded people will always help, doing the things that make you happy, or exercising. Having a tarot reading is one thing that might help you gain perspective on the stresses and strains of life, and give you the tools to manage stress and negativity to keep you feeling peaceful. Tarot has long been used to shed light on some of life’s problems, and help people find a way forward that is helpful, so this might be something to consider if you’re going through a particularly difficult time.
Feeing good and at peace with myself and my life choices isn’t going to cause world peace I know that, but I have no control over the rest of the world. What I do have control over is making my immediate environment a peaceful one which is what I plan to do.
How did International peace day make you feel?
This is a collaborative post how ever all thoughts and opinions shared are my own.
