Making Changes

One of my resolutions this year was to get back into my fitness and start eating healthier. My relationship with food is very up and down I have a particularly sweet tooth and chocolate is my weak spot oh and not to mention crips with dip!

There are two main reasons I want to make some changes to my diet:

  1. On the whole the kids eat very well (much better than me) its something I have always been a little strict on – yes they have there treats but it is a treat. As they get older though I do not want them to start seeing my bad habits, like skipping breakfast or the 7 biscuits I have with a cuppa in the afternoon, and start copying!
  2. For myself – I eat rubbish means I feel sluggish, I’m snappy and I loose all motivation. At the end of everyday I feel utterly useless like another day has been wasted.
So I’m making some lifestyle adjustments and I thought I’d share them with you all to give you some ideas of small changes you can make everyday to get yourself out of the rut, full of energy and feeling loads better!
  • Walk more – I’ve ditched the car and started doing the school run by foot it takes me roughly and hour to get there, see Maisy into nursery and get back home. Which isn’t all that different to when I drove, once I’d battled traffic, attempted to park(very badly) and got the kids in an out of the car. Its a good way to get me ready for the day ahead.

  • Finding alternatives – Finding snacks I enjoy that aren’t biscuits, crisps and chocolates. Rice cakes, fruit and yogurt, banana and chia bites still yum and much better for me!
  • No more skipping breakfast – again starting the day on the right note!
  • Smoothies – Last week I purchased the Breville Blend Active and have been really loving whipping up smoothies with the kids they love their fruit and already eat lots but its a great way to get them involved and making sure I’m getting enough as well.

  • Getting Organised – There’s nothing less motivating than feeling overwhelmed with a to do list thats spiralling out of control, I’ve sat down and got myself in order now I know what were doing each day, meals are planned and I feel on top of things.

Just making these small changes I have so much more energy, I feel calmer and excited about all the things I have planned and coming up in my blog and day to day life. 2015 has gotten off to a great start I hope it continues!

Good luck with your changes =)
I am trying to eat healthier and make healthier choices in terms of getting out and about more. I just can’t wait for the weather to get a bit warmer so going outside is more of an inviting idea!

Good luck it it all, my goals are very similar. I really must start eating breakfast as it means I’m less likely to snack mid-morning. I’ve also got a To Do note book to try & keep me orgnised & on top of things as I get so busy I just forget!

You’re the 3rd person today that has suggested that smoothie maker. I’ve never really had one. Maybe I need to get into them, would help the health kick!

I am right there with you on the new exercise and eating healthier this year. I eat absolutely horrible and my skin and everything is starting to show it too. Funny thing is I am super strict with my kids diets they can’t have chocolate or anything like that or pop or crisps not even fast food and yet I eat all this stuff ALOT. It’s horrible. I should be eating the same meals they eat and I would be super healthy. Its’ a new year we can do this you sound like you are on the right path and just motivated me. Thank you. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. Sorry if you had any trouble commenting on my site today as the host is being transferred there are a few glitches to fix. Apologies. #sharewithme

Fab! Well done for finding things that work for you. I am a great believer in exercise and fresh air at the beginning of the day getting you in the right frame of mind for a productive day. I also can’t function without my breakfast. Good luck with continuing the new routine. I hope you get the results you are after! #sharewithme

I always wanted to do these things as well but my motivation/focus is not that strong. Would love to see how this goal goes and maybe I can follow and get some tips along the way =) #sharewithme

I agree organisation can make a huge difference to your mood. I’ve just organised myself and the blog and am managing things much better now. Walking is so good for you too – I do it everyday, after the school run. I hope your small changes work for you. xx
