At nearly 6 months old baby Lottie is still not in a proper routine she doesn’t have a set bed time like the other two. This is because I’m still breast feeding on demand some evenings she up late feeding just for the sake of it. However this week work started on getting her bedroom all ready for her and I’m hoping she’ll be moved in next weekend! At the moment we have her crib in our room but I wont lie its used as a bed guard because every night she sleeps in with me, I love my baby cuddles all night but now I’m thinking it will be nice to get my evenings back and get her into a good bedtime routine more importantly in her own bed.
So I have started every evening after a bath/wash giving her a little baby massage which she loves, I usually use oil but the other day when sorting out her wardrobe I found some Johnsons baby bedtime lotion, it smelt amazing so I thought we’d give it a try and see how her skin reacts, we all have sensitive skin so I don’t really like using really fragranced products on them. Thankfully her skins been absolutely fine with it.
The first night I used it I loved it, Its a really nice consistency, thick so I can give her a good massage with out it all soaking in too quickly and having to use loads but didn’t leave her skin feeling all greasy like oils do. And she smelt amazing, more amazing than the usual natural baby sent.
The product claims to help baby drift off to sleep easier and sleep better so did it help her sleep is the big question, and I’ve got to say I was sceptical but YES it did since starting this little routine she has been having one more feed and going to sleep at around 7pm and sleeping really well only waking maybe once for a quick feed during the night which I think is more for comfort.
I don’t know if its down to the lotion, the massage or both but from now on Johnsons baby bedtime lotion will be a permanent fixture in our bedtime routine, I’m really pleased with it and a little gutted I didn’t use it earlier!
